My friend has a 2.5 gallon cask that he's going to let me borrow for the spring party so I brewed up a 3 gallon batch to go in it. It's based on Evan's Never Fail Red Ale recipe, just scaled down to 3 gallons and I added some caravienna to it. I did this as a Brew In A Bag on my stove since it was a small batch and it was cold outside today. 5 lbs maris otter .5 lb munich II .25 lb caravienna .25 lb crystal 60 1.5 oz roasted barley .5 oz Challenger 6.7%AA @ 60 min .25 oz Challenger 6.7%AA @ 20 min .25 oz Challenger 6.7%AA @ flameout Wyeast 1968 London ESB 2g Calcium Carbonate 1 g Gypsum Mashed in with 3 gallons of water at 164* to hit 153* and let it sit for an hour, then I pulled out the bag and put a strainer over the top of the pot to let it drain out. Then I "sparged" by pouring two gallons of 180* water over the bag and letting that drain out as well. Did a 90 minute boil since I ended up with a little more volume than I was planning. OG came out to 1.052 at just over 3 gallons. I hadn't done a BIAB in a long time, it was pretty fun. I might get a 3 gallon better bottle and 2.5 gallon keg and start doing some small batches more often.
