Our second ALEZ competition this year is going to be a fruit and spiced beer competition. The entries will be judged based on the BJCP categories: 20 Fruit Beer 21 Spice/Herb/Vegetable Beer To view the BJCP style guidelines for these categories go to: www.bjcp.org/docs/2008_Guidelines.pdfThis competition is pretty wide open style wise, you just have to make sure that whatever fruit or spicing you use is a major component of the beer. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for this competition, with a prize for first place. Entries will need to be two 12 oz bottles for judging, and either two more 12 oz bottles or one 22 oz bottle for tasting at the following public meeting. Winners will be announced at the August public meeting on Tuesday August 20th, and we'll have all the entries available to taste at that meeting as well. There is no entry fee to this competition, but entries will be limited to no more than 2 per person and you can't enter more than one entry into one style category. Entries for this competition will be due at our July public meeting on Tuesday July 16. If you can't make the meeting you can drop your entries off at Blockader Homebrew Supply as well. I'll post an entry form you can print off to include with your bottles as the competition draws closer. Use this thread to discuss anything about the competition and fruit and spiced beers, as well as to ask any questions you may have.
